My favorite topic to address around setting intentions and designing a beautiful life is clutter. It really is one of the easiest things to change and for some people the most impactful. Clutter is not just your piles of clothes or stacks of folders on your desk. If you really want to free up your life to receive everything you desire, don't stop at what's lying around the house or the office.
Clutter can be any person, place, or thing stopping you from freeing yourself.
From a clean, clear, clutter free space, we are perfectly poised to set intentions about what we really want. In this clear space, you are at your most open to receive.
Clutter is a representation of the state of mind, it's part of who you're being. Clutter represents you saying no to something.
Some people will refer to the famously misquoted phrase, “Oh, but the Einstein quote says that geniuses have messy desks." The quote really says:
“If a cluttered desk is a sign of a cluttered mind, of what then is an empty desk a sign of?”
It is years of people playing the telephone game that has translated this quote into something that justifies clutter into being something that has an enduring quality.
When we really start to understand clutter as a larger role in our lives, it is the people, places and things between where we are and where we would like to be. Once we know what the clutter is, it can be easier to remove it.
Here are some questions to ask yourself when it comes to the clutter you are experiencing in your home:
What is stopping you from taking action and being truly free of this clutter?
How would your life change and your home improve if this clutter were gone for good?
Are there other areas in life where you want to experience this breakthrough? Are the same things stopping you now stopping you in that area?
Take a deep breath and imagine the home you desire beneath the clutter. Get on Pinterest and start to find inspiration for that specific area of your home. My Pinterest board is chalk-full of helpful and beautiful images to help you flourish in your home. Check it out here!
Beyond Pinterest, you will find that I am a huge fan of the Marie Kondo book, 'The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up' because by implementing the method in her book you can see lasting transformation with clutter.
For those of you seeking the decluttering of deeper layers in your life such as the people I mentioned, you may be interested to know that I developed a coaching practice. Over the years I started teaching others how to declutter on a more grand scale and you can find out more about this at michelleandersen.com.
